how much does something in collections affect my credit score
I have mostly medical bills in collections.

There is not a way to tie something already in collections to an exact number of points your score would have been impacted. The good news is the damage has already been done. You would have taken a hit when the items first showed up as derogatory remarks and when it moved from "Past Due" to "Collections". You can try Pay for Delete letters for the balances or you can just wait for the 7 year clock to reset.
