Regarding FICO scores, if you do not currently have a credit card or any form of revolving credit, you should see an instant boost in scores when your first card reports. You will usually gain some points for the second card you open as well. "Having" revolving activity is a big plus on FICO scoring, just make sure that you use revolving credit in the correct way to get the best results. When you are looking for a card, make sure that it reports to all credit bureaus, most do, but make sure.
