Any credit card benefits your score as long as you are making payments on time and  your utilization is under 30%.  Credit reports don't care which lenders you use, Amex, Chase, whatever.  You can apply for as many credit cards as you feel comfortable with.  Your score will drop at first but then as you make on-time payments it will increase over the following months.
