You should learn about the statute of limitations on collections because some debts may be old enough you can't be sued to collect on them, and you should learn about negotiating a 'pay for delete' agreement. Both of these can save you money.  Also, the contact information is on your credit reports (the ones from the credit bureaus, and all contacts should be by e-mail or letter, never by phone.  WHY?  Because the clerks who answer the phone are there just to answer phones and have no authority for negotiations.  There are articles here to explain this and they are well worth taking the time to read.
