FIRST: Is it truly yours?

Go to annualcreditreport.com and get copies of all three credit reports which you will look over thoroughly.  You will then dispute all wrong information with the credit bureau reporting same.  You will do this credit check yourself once a year, every year tomake sure no erroneous entries remain on your credit report.

If this debt IS yours as revealed by the information on the report, then you can contact the creditor and arrange payment.  Likely, though, it's not yours.
