You can not stop an account that is in collections from being sold.     Unless you Pay the amount owed.

You cannot stop them from selling and transferring the account unless as already said you pay it. Negative accounts remain on your reports for seven years. If you do decide to pay it, try for a "pay for delete agreement" on the account, so it is removed in exchange for your payment. It would be wise of you to fully understand how to go about this before you do anything, so read up on it.
