Generally speaking, yes credit card (revloving credit) is better than installment loan when one try to build/rebuild their credit, simply because when the loan is paid off? Your score tend to drop, where a credit card you can decide when you want to close it (not suggesting you doing so). As with any new accounts appearing on your report (credit card or loan) your score will take hit initially, usually takes 3~4 months before you see your score improve.

Both will help you establish credit. Personal loan in the long run and credit card in the short run.
