A little reading would have shown you that just beccause an account is closed it will still report for a minimum of 7 years. It can be longer if it was closed in good standing and that only helps your credit scores.  But if there are negative remarks it will not be removed for the 7 years so that all lenders know your true payment histories.

You posted under "Student Loans."   Be advised that student loans remain due and payable until such time as they are paid in full, no matter how long that takes and they will show on your credit reports all that time.
