Filed ch7 on Sept 19, 2008.
Date: May 7, 2013.
What is the May 7th date? Also is the ten years for this item to drop off starting on the file date?

Was the May date the last time it was updated on your credit report? Honestly I am not sure. I am not 100% sure but I do believe you are correct when you say the ten years starts at the filing date. Good news is that you will only have this for a couple more years on your reports and negative information does lose damage as it ages, so there are probably plenty of steps that you can take right now to really improve your credit. Do some reading on "early exclusion" too as sometimes you can get negative info removed a few months early (not that time yet, but it will be here before you know it).
