Well, try to avoid bankruptcy at all costs since that will total your credit score!  If you need help, there are articles here on how credit works and how to build your score. the Statute of Limitations on Collections and how to negotiat e a 'pay for delete' agreement..  You might also take a look at Dave Ramsey's site and check out his 'Baby Steps' so you can learn how to get your debts paid effectively.  I am leary of so-called credit counselors because some are downright unethical.  Handling your debt yourself gives a great sense of satisfaction and you learn what not to do in the future.
