Does it hurt my rating if credit cards are being paid off?
I saw the rating on two of the major credit reporting agencies drop by 10 points this past month. There was no activity this past month in terms of credit inquiries or new accounts, etc. The only thing I did was make large payments on two credit cards, which have not been used over the past few months. I'm attempting to pay these down prior to the end of this year. Could this be hurting my credit rating? Should I use these cards occasionally to show that there is activity? My intent is not to close these accounts, just to have these in the event of emergencies that may arise.
