Buying a home may improve your credit score.  However, the cost of a home purchase is not the only thing to consider.  There are property taxes. insurance (especially liability), possibly homeowner's association fees  and the inevitable appliance needing repair or replacement or roof leaking and other such "contingencies' that should be considered before buying a home.  I know, because I've rented and owned homes.  The trailer I'm living in now is not going to get much invested in it because of its age (and mine, too).  Think hard, use the home affordability calculator here, get your finances in order and make certain buying a home is the smart decision for you.  It really isn't for everyone.
