I wouldn't be paying for such a 'service' when checking your credit reports annually to correct any errors, keeping sensitive information such as Social Security Card locked up in a safe place (never carry it in your wallet until it is needed, which is seldom) and making sure to shred such things as bank statements when they are resolved.  And always be cautious about giving out sensitive information, especially if someone you did not personally contact asks you for it.  Common sense works here.
