Credit history gone after returning to the US, is this recoverable?
Lived abroad for 7 years and upon return found my credit history was gone. Is this a common occurrence? Can this be reconstructed? Reestablishing credit from nothing at age 50 is not an easy task.

Credit history is short-lived and usually about 7 years long, unless you had to file a bankruptcy which is a negative on your record for 10 years.

Please read the articles on this site because the purpose of Credit Karma is to teach how credit works, how to use it and how to build a good credit score.  Age is not necessarily a factor.   Utilize the information and the financial tools here and you will be building an excellent score in a relatively short time.
