Credit Card Charge-off
I had a credit card that was closed and charged-off back in 2009. I didn't receive any collection notices after the charge-off. I contacted the credit union which the card was thru and asked for the agency that was handling the collection. I contacted them and got nowhere. Now I just show that the card is showing up as oped and its reporting current late payments. How is this happening. Its shows on Transunion as correct but Equifax its now showing as open and its been closed since 2009.

You might have done better letting the charge off fall off your report. By contacting the collection agency, you may have restarted the clock on that debt, which means it make take another 7 years before it drops off. If that is the case, maybe you can writing to them about agreeing to remove the debt as paid in full if you were to resolve the outstanding debt.

This is completely inaccurate. First, contacting the collection agency would NOT restart the credit reporting time period, it could possibly reset the "statute of limitations" to be sued for the debt if payment arrangements were agreed to. It is also not good advice to contact them and try to pay the debt, it is most likely outside the "statute of limitations". Nothing restarts the credit reporting time period.

Now, for the question at hand, if the account was charged off in 09, then it is eligible to be removed from the credit reports right now. Contact the three credit bureaus and ask them to remove it due to the age of the account. Transunion, Equifax and Experian all have websites with contact info.

DO NOT contact the collection agency.
