Collection on CreditKarma but not on my actual credit reports?
I started panicking a bit when I discovered, via checking CreditKarma, that there was a negative collection which had dinged my credit score from West Bay Acquisitions LLC. However, when I checked all three of my free credit reports today, there isn't any negative collection noted.

When I called the collection agency who I supposedly owe money to, they said I had signed up for BMG Music Service and hadn't paid the amount. The guy asked a couple of questions to look up my account (nothing too sensitive/risky for me to give) and said that I owed them money from 7 years ago and told me the amount and an address I lived at 3+ years ago (the address I would have signed up with, I guess), but I don't think he knew my current address.

So I'm wondering, if I do have an account in collections, why wouldn't it show up on my three credit reports? I wasn't even 15 at the time I supposedly signed up for the service and I know for a fact that I never received any product from "signing up" nor have I received any requests to pay the bill. I certainly would have paid it if I had.

If I don't, why is CreditKarma showing that I do? I thought CreditKarma roughly took information from my actual credit reports?

I guess I'm just disturbed that a collections agency might be trying to con me (the company does have some pretty negative BBB reviews) and that CreditKarma is reporting something that isn't on my actual credit reports. Any advice or suggestions are certainly welcome!

You may want to direct that question to Credit Karma employees by sending email to support@creditkarma.com.  They are supposed to get their info from TransUnion, so not sure what happened, unless it showed up so briefly that it was gone again when you pulled your full report.
