Collection/ charge off
Hi everyone... I need some advise. A few years ago, I had a rough patch in my life all my credit cards were behind and I couldn't keep up. I at the time had a 770 credit score and then I got behind and couldn't keep up on my payments. All my accounts went past due. I ended up paying them all off in the past three years but since they have been paid off I have noticed my credit score is not moving much. I also paid all my credit cards off in full. I have been doing some research and there are a couple of my accounts that say they have been charged off. Is there a way to get that status "charge off" changed? They were paid in full back in 2012. I am trying to buy a house for my kids and I and my current score is still poor. What can I do to get them removed or at least in good standings.

If they were reported as past due, there is nothing you can do to get them in good standing.   Routinely, chargeoff meant they cancelled the debt and could not collect or they sold your account to someone else and charged off the balance from whatyou owed to what they collected for paymen of the account.  When you paid off did you happen to have to work with a collection companies in the process.   I am afraid that that you may have to live with these on your record for the 7 year duration.   What have you done since this incident in order to start building your credit again?   By getting credit cards again and managing the properly, this is the only way you are going to see any movement in your scored.
