Collection Agency - Paying it back/ Statue of Limitations
I just ran my free credit report, as I do in the beginning of every year, and found a good chunk of old debt (from collection agencies) accrued around the fall 2007/2006 has dropped off my report because of (i'm guessing) the statue of limitation.

However, there is still ~$650.00 left, and all are scheduled to be removed between 10/01 &12/01 of this year.

Details:

Collection Agencies holding my debt:
3 accounts with Recovery Solutions Corp
2 with I C Systems Collections

Can I repay those final amounts that appear on my credit report now to clear up my credit without reactivating old debt that has been removed. The old debt was held by the same companies. On my credit report, each one is shown separately with different account numbers and different dates of accrual.

Or should I not chance it and wait until they are removed.

Unless you get a "pay-per-delete" deal with the creditors, then paying these accounts will re-age them and they will remain on your report for another 7 & 1/2 years.  If you want to pay, make sure you get IN WRITING from the creditors that they will delete the account from your report once it is paid in full, otherwise I would wait for them to fall off.  Best of luck!

Thank you. I think I'm going to wait it out at this point. Everything I read about collection companies sounds like they are hard to deal with and why take the chance messing up during negations. I've definitely paid over the years with higher interest rates with these bad marks on my credit.
