Collection agency does not own debt anymore, how do I remove it from my credit report?
I have a collection on my report. It was last reported in 2011. I contacted the agency to pay off the balance and they said they were unable to take payment because the don't "have the debt" anymore. The guy at the agency said to contact the original creditor (AT and T) but when i contact them, they say the same thing, that I need to contact the collection agency. I am trying to clean up my credit and this is the last ding I have, so trying to get rid of it asap. Thanks for any advice!
