Closed Child Support Acct; keep it closed or open it?
I have a balance of about 1700 in back child support, that I have been making payments to regularly twice a month. The account is listed as closed and derogatory on my credit report. It is listing my last payments with the correct dates, however the balance is remaining the same. I was wondering if it would be possible to open it, and if so would it help my score? (since I will be paying it off in a few months). Or will it not make a difference? I am worried since the balance isn't correct on my report that even once it's paid off it will still be listed as an outstanding balance.
