Cancelling a new card without activating affect score?
We applied by phone for a new credit card and was told that if we cancel the cards before activating it won't affect our score. Is this true?

Well, the damage done by the hard inquiry (or inquiries) for applying to the card is done. However in theory if the card was never activated and therefore never on your record, then you won't take the ding for lowering your AAOA or decreasing your credit limit, as you would if the card HAD been activated.
