Can lenders access my credit report after closing?
I closed on my mortgage 8 months ago. This week my mortgage broker emailed me that he noticed a recent hard credit inquiry on my report and wanted to know whether I was interested in refinancing my mortgage. Apparently my lender gets notified of any hard inquiries to my credit over the life of the loan, and they share this information with the broker so that he gets a chance to compete with other banks.
Is this allowed?
