can I have a 0 balance credit card removed?
This card was settled for less than amount owed. Cap 1 had closed this account, but I have a 0 balance. I called cap1 and they told me that they can't remove it. Why??

Part of credit history

Credit accounts remain on your credit report for about 7 years, then they fall off.  Potential creditors look at that history to determine if they want to risk granting you credit, or not.  Look for it to fall off seven years past the date of final payment.
