Can I be liable for a contract signed under age?
At 17 I had a account opened with my grandmother who was not my legal guardian. Since then the account has gone into default and my grandmother has passed. Since I turned 18 this company has been trying to get me to pay the debt. I was happy to pay it in full just to get rid of it as now at 24 I'm trying to buy a home but get denied for this matter but they refuse to remove it or report it differently. That is why I was curious if I hired an attorney if he could have them remove it. I've been told by a few I'm not obligated to pay the debt because at 17 you can't sign a legal binding contract. The cost isn't the issue its the fact this is standing between me and my new home. The loan was a secured loan for lawn equipment.
