Balance transfer to improve credit utilization
I just got a new card with 0% for balance transfers to lower credit utilization and reduce my monthly payments. My total utilization was around 75%, drops to 45% when I add the credit available on the new card. My question is which card(s) to transfer from for best effect. I have 3 cards: (1) highest limit, above 80% utilization, 11% APR; (2) medium limit, 41% utilization, 11% APR; (3) lowest limit, 68% utilization, 0% APR (was also used for balance transfer). I can transfer up to $5K to the new card. Is it better to transfer all of that from card #1 or to first transfer enough from card #2 to get that card below 30% util. and then transfer the rest from card 1?
