Bad effect on Credit Scores? Issuer letter about rarely used acct. to close in 45 days.
10 year card holder. Will this hurt credit scores if lender just closes this acct? I'm open to letting that happen.

Do you have credit cards which are older? Length of credit history makes up 15% of your score. Your score will probably drop about 15 points. After a few months the negative effects usually wear off. Try the credit simulator to the left of the screen on this site, and see for yourself what your score will do.

Well if in good standing this will remain on your report for up to ten years.  So there should not be any affect unless it affects your utilization which makes up 30% of your fico score.  So if you do not use this card and you have others then go ahead and let it die.
