ok so i got contacted by this "collection agency"(featured mediation) Friday and they aint passing the smell test so i was so here is why 1.they called from a Florida number and they are out of ny 2.changed subject when i asked for an address 3.i asked for the debt to be validated and they did not want to do so in writing sent it email 4.said a payment was made on the account in 03/2011 but dont know or wont give any other info other then that. 5. this company has almost zero foot print online so i did some homework and called the company that owns the property and they leased the space to flexible office solutions who then subleases it to them but he could neither confirm nor deny about them. 6.bbb out of NY dont know anything of them outside of the name and address ANY ADVICE OR KNOWLEDGE OF THEM WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Right track...

I'd make a complaint with the BBB.  Be complete and thorough in this complaint.  Get a mailing address and DISPUTE everything in writing.  In the same letter, demand that all communication be done with you to the mailing address.   Make sure to state that any phone calls are not permitted.

Is anything showing up on your credit reports yet?   (Generally these companies will do a "soft" inquiry to get information on you).  An address should be found that way as well.
