any suggestions as to how best to add a 17 year old son to my auto insurance?
mY SON IS 17 AND ABOUT TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL. HE HAS TAKEN THE REQUIRED DRIVER'S ED CLASS, AND HAS A DRIVER'S PERMIT.

Simply ask them to add a new driver to your policy.  It will be cheaper than getting his own insurance. But expect your insuirance cost to take a jump.  Adding new drivers to your insurance can be expensive. Use it as a teaching moment. We required my son to pay for his portion of the insurance.  He opted to wait until he was 18 to get his license because it was going to be cheaper than if we had added him at 16.

Since he has his permit, he should already be on your policy, If he is driving a car, he needs to be covered. The risks of not having him on the policy are to high not to.
