i started the process of rebuilding my credit back in February. To begin, I opened 3 secured credit cards and this was one. Out of the three that I opened, the other two being Merrick and First Progress, this is by far the best. I began with the initial $300 deposit/$300 credit line. Although I tried to behave and have my utilization low, it was normally around 70% because at $300 even a tank of gas puts you way up. In December I randomly received a $300 increase! Talk about shocked. Granted, I NEVER missed a payment, usually made my payments weeks in advance before my statement even came out. Now, I have made another deposit of $500 putting me at $1100. My credit score loves this boost!

Also, the benefits to this card are fantastic. I have an image on mine so it doesn't look like I'm running around with secured credit cards. I've never dealt with customer service directly BUT I did have an issue with a company charging unauthorized payments on my credit card. All I did was wait for the charge to clear and submit a discrepancy. The charge always came off of my card within a few days and through lots of arguing with the company, the charges have now stopped. It was really a great experience though because Capital One took the charge off so quickly and never penalized me for having 8 months of disputes with this company.

I highly recommend this card above all others.

Never cancel a credit card if you can help it. The decrease in available credit and length of accourts will take a hit. Even if you don't use them.

Worst banking experience I have ever had. Everyone I know has had a problem sooner or later with it. In my area you can actually start up conversations with total strangers about how bad they are.

To keep from having to type the countless stories I know, if you make under $35k a year or live paycheck to paycheck, they will:

Steal your last penny

And charge you for it.

Even the people that work there know it is not a moral company.

I did the same time. Opened 3 secured cards with $1100 a/c. I'd charge daily expenses but made sure come the 12-14th of the month, there was only 10-15%. After 6 mon. Capital One gave me a credit increase to $1200 and my credit score has risen 100pts (confirmed w. other sites).
