Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express

Poor rewards\ Customer Service

This Amex card does not compare to similar cards through Chase. The rewards can only be redeemed in $25 increments. Not a huge deal, but rather annoying considering its the only perk of this card.

Finding merchants that accept AmEx, even in Houston, is a struggle. Most mom and pop stores can't pay the exorbiant Amex transaction fees. I get much better acceptance with Discover.

The deal breaker was the way Amex handled a dispute on my account; the merchant lied multiple times, but continued to dispute the charge back. Amex finally gave up, even after I submitted many pages of documentation, and recharged by account. Definitely not the AmEx service your father would have received...

DISGUSTING customer service

If you could ever imagine calling the DMV, with their service being rated superb; Barclay Card would be rock bottom.

Rude agents, not properly trained, unable to answer the most basic questions.

God help you if you have unauthorized charges. I have $8k charged in India in one day. I've never been to India and used the card same day at a gas station and grocery store in Houston,TX.

Three weeks, tens of calls, multiple "supervisors".... had to consult my group legal plan to send a letter of demand.

This company pries on people with average credit and treats you like total crap from the moment you are approved.

Frost National Bank

The first bank I've stayed with

Frost is a slice of Texas. They operate only in Texas and their customer service lines... you guessed it, are in Texas. A live person answers the calls, usually on the first ring. No automated menues, or oursourced reps.

Being a smaller bank, they have competive rates and EXCEPTIONAL in branch employees. They'll open the door for you, get you a coffee or a snack. Having a smaller ATM network, the out of network ATM fee is only $1.50.   (Compared to $3+ with the national banks)

When my account was compromised, it took one call to customer service. I stopped by a branch, they had the new account open- starter checks ready- and have moved the provisional fraud credit into the new account.

I think everyone has gone through the BoA phase. I had an account for about five years, from high school to early college years. Over night, they began processing their credits and debits differently.

My direct deposit posted at 5:30a, but my automatic transfers went out at 1:00am. This meant SEVEN items were classified as overdrafts. Upon calling customer service, I was instantly laughed at and told "it's not my problem you can't handle your money".

Mind you, my automatically transfers and direct deposts had remained untouched for many years. This was prior to the CFPB  and the class action suit for intentionally causing overdrafts.

Once trust is lost, I'll never have any BoA branded product in my househole.

I agree... Customer service is a joke! AmEx is the only way to go. The fraud department is extremely condescending; considering a gas purchase in Houston occurred three hours before a boutique purchase in London "are you sure you didn't make a copy of your card for someone else?" - Oh yep, forgot. I love to print my own cards!

I notified barclay of my trip to the UK via the website and my phone over a week prior to trip. Landed in London, card blocked. Calls to customer service were long hold times; at international roaming rates.

My Discover card worked perfectly and I notified them in the app while in London.

Barclay is just a bad company overall.

$10K Limit on Barclays, $12k limit with Capital One, $5k limit with Discover.  Utilization <3%        AmEx granted a whopping $2 k limit.   Not worth the credit hit.

Nothing but hassles. Unauthorized charges? Barclay doesn't care.

Had same day purchases in US and thousands of charges over seas. No notification, no call from fraud department.

I'm talking about 4K+ charges withing a matter of hours.

Pass on this card, You'll thank me later
