Ok, so I am very new to this rebuildig credit thing. I filed for bankruptcy in 2005 (in my 20's) and during that time I did have a CO credit card. I was young and did not pay the bill and ended up in collections. I just filed for bankruptcy again this year (discharged on 7/2) and with my history with CO and my newly bankruptcy status I was very reluctant to apply for this card. After days of research on scores, hard and soft inquiries and approval odds, I decided to apply for a secured card with CO. Surprisingly, I was approved! ($49 deposit $200 CL) The next day I took a chance and applied for this card and again-- APPROVED! I was shocked. My CL is only $300 but that is sufficient since I'm rebuilding my credit. I want to buy a car and I'm trying to get my CS a little higher than it is right now; according to CK 518- TU and 549 EQ. I am really loving CK because I have gotten alot of good info on rebuilding my credit. I just disputed some items on my credit report and I'm hoping that they will get removed so my score can go up some (I will keep you posted on that). As for Capitol One, I am happy with them so far. They took another chance on a girl who really didn't deserve it!
Oh by the way; this card was not reccommended to me by CK, the secured card but not this one. I actually did research, read the reviews, saw that there were alot of people who had the same credit issues as I did and I let CO do a soft inquiry for a pre-approval and then I applied for the card. I hope this review helps someone as much as all the other reviews helped me!

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear that happened. Part of rebuilding your credit score is educating yourself and learning from other peoples mistakes. One thing that I have learned from this site is to only use 30% of your CL and if you use more, then find out the day that the CC company actually reports to the credit bureau so that you can pay it before they report it. My suggestion is that you find out the day they report to credit bureau and pay your bill by that date. Don't look at as the end of the world, you can get your score back up!

My bankruptcy was discharged on 7/2 and on 7/7 I applied for an unsecured Cap One card and was approved. On 7/8 I applied for an unsecured card with Cap One and was approved for that one as well. I received the unsecured card in the mail today. I would say Cap One. I did alot of research before deciding to apply and I did the pre qualify application first! The pre qualified app is a soft inquiry and once I was pre-approved I felt more comfortable doing the application. Good luck!
Well I am on the fence and here's why. I was approved back in July (immediately after bankruptcy discharge ). $300 CL. I read reviews on CK religiously and began asking for a CLI arounf August. I was denieda few times because my account was "too new", then in September they gave me a whopping $100 increase when I asked. Let me also state that, to this day, I pay my bill early and always pay between 70-100 on my bill. I continued asking for CLI and was denied, this time reason being because there was a recent change (CLI) to my account. I found the magical "back door" number and called. The rep looked over my account, agreed that I had an excellent payment history, however, there was nothing she could do. She went over the Steps Program with me and said I would receive an increase in March. I was frustrated so I stopped trying and the next time I went to pay.....I had been given an increase. It was about a week later but it was only for $350. So, I do believe the "backdoor number " works but I also see your point about the amount they give.
Thanks for the advice. Trust me I'm not considering a third bk.. I'm older and have more resources available and making wiser choices when it comes to my credit. The bk from 2005 is actually no longer on my credit report but I definitely hear what you're saying.
I was approved for this card around November, 2015 with a $500 CL. I had a bankruptcy discharge in July of 2015. I have NEVER missed a payment with these guys and I paid my entire balance in May. Right after I paid my balance, they lowered my CL to $260. When I called them to ask why, they said they did a random credit check and I had a bankruptcy and other CC that were near their limits. I HAD THE SAME THING WHEN THEY APPROVED ME!!! The CSR said that if my credit improved they would reconsider raising my limit back but they hurt my credit score by lowering my limit!! Most recently, they charged me a late fee because I paid my bill on 9/7 and it was due on 9/6. The money was teken out of my account but it still has not shown up on my Walmart account. I HATE THIS CARD! I am seriously thinking about closing this account.
I did the first one exactly 10 years prior to the second one. Both chapter 7.
Correction- my payment is $180 monthly; not $100.
I don't work for this company and I haven't given them a review yet. I did apply for a loan and was approved for $1000 with payments of $100 a month. I can't remember who my csr was (I actually spoke with two). The first guy was nice but frustrated me to the point that I said forget it and told him to withdraw my application. They wanted a copy of my bank statement and I sent it over to them about three times and every time he said it was the wrong format. The second guy was nice as well and actually walked me through what I had to do to send it the right way. All in all, the process was legit, I got my money the next day and I also received $50 for referring a friend. It was placed in my account just as they promised. I will be giving a review of this company (probably just copy and paste this). They are legit; I haven't had any issues. Hope this helps!
