Hard inquiries does indeed affect your score, each hard inquiry can bring your score down by 2 to 5 points per inquiry. Also, they can stay on your report for 2 years, try not to have more than 4 because it will pull your score down. It counts as 10% of your score! history of your report is about 15% of your score! that's why it's good to continue to use those old cc that you have had for years and not close them out.

You need to show a small balance on your card right before your credit card company reports your balance to the bureaus. Find out when your credit card company reports, for instance if they report on the 20th of every month, pay your balance after that day, that was you won't show a zero balance.
scenario #2, charge a small amount like $10 a few days before they report & it won't show a zero utilization.
