I'm really not sure what you're asking! However, I can say that whenever I've purchased a vehicle, EVERYTHING was clearly written out in its contract--and I read EVERY SINGLE WORD before signing it. So I knew exactly how much I was getting for my trade-in, exactly how much the total purchase price of the new car was, exactly how much was left after any trade-in and/or down payment, and exactly what any payments would be. All of my new vehicles over the last 30 years have been Toyotas, so that's who I'm referring to, but I would expect ANY dealership would handle things the same way. Did you not read the contract before signing it? Did you ask about any missing figures? If you agreed to pay $14,000 for a car that should've cost $11,912...well, I hate to break it to you, but once you signed off on the bottom line, that's that. Buyer beware.

If I ask for a credit increase on my credit card does it cause a hard inquiry on my credit report?

It completely depends on which company it is. Some do a hard inquiry and some do not. From my personal experience, Bank of America (Visa) does a hard inquiry, Capital One (Visa and MasterCard) do not. If you're requesting the credit line increase online, you SHOULD see a warning if it's going to do a hard pull, and you can cancel before that happens. If you do it by phone, just ask the rep you're talking to and they should be able to tell you whether it involves a hard pull.

We've quoted the exact same snippet, and we have the exact same confusion! See my post for details, but my auto and home insurance scores suck, yet I have a 0% chance of filing a claim--based on 25+ years of actual history.

Need advice on past medical collections while on SSDI & Medicaid

Since you were determined to have been disabled since August, 2010, your SSDI back-payment award should've been retroactive to that date. From that money you should've paid the bills that occurred after that date. Or, at the very least, you should have contacted the collection agencies and tried to work out lower settlements, and then paid those. I'm guessing that your lump sum back-payment award is long gone now, and with your very small monthly benefit you really have no way to make payments. Other than contacting the collection agencies and trying to work something out, I'm not sure what you can do. But if you do nothing, your credit score will remain bad because of those unpaid debts.

Is there any way to reopen a credit card closed by chase if I pay it off?

I think your chances are pretty slim, but you never know. You have nothing to lose by contacting Chase and asking. They're the only ones who can really answer your question, so why not call and ask?

Can I reapply for credit on a card I defaulted on BEFORE Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

First of all, I would NOT bank on having lots of credit card offers thrown at you after filing bankruptcy. That's not how it usually works. In fact, once you have a bankruptcy on your credit reports, you're pretty much poison to credit granting companies--except the type that charge RIDICULOUS interest/finance charges. You certainly will not be getting tons of offers for high quality, low interest, no fee credit cards from reputable companies.

Also, you're free to apply for any account at any time, so applying again is an option, but don't expect CareCredit to approve you after a bankruptcy. (Note: I know NOTHING about CareCredit, so this is just a generalization. I'm assuming they're not in the lowlife category of interest gouging card grantors.)

How can I find out what credit cards I have open and if someone has applied for credit in my name

It can be tough! I have JUST been the victim of identity theft/credit card fraud, and the way I found out about each card (three so far) varied. For two of them, it was because of new hard inquiries on my credit reports. For another, it was when a platinum American Express card was delivered to me via UPS...and I knew I had neither applied for a card, nor had I accepted a pre-approved offer, so I got on the phone ASAP! The interesting thing...well, DEVIOUS thing...is that the accounts were set up for paperless billing, which means I would never have received a paper statement for any of them. Had it not been for my careful monitoring of my credit reports, including alerts, I'd be in the dark. My best advice is to set up alerts, if you haven't already done so, both here on CK and with any credit cards you have, so that you're notified immediately if anything changes on your credit report and/or anything is charged on any of your cards.

Why would Caliber have reported us like that, when we had asked them for assistance?

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're really asking. Paying more on a mortgage is never a bad thing, at least in my experience, so I have no clue why doing so would've triggered your mortgage heading into foreclosure. The first thing you need to do is contact the mortgage company and see if you can straighten things out.

CREDIT SCORE LOWERED AFTER APPLYING FOR NEW CREDIT CARD

It's normal for your scores to fluctuate, and it's normal for them to drop after certain events, such as applying for a new account--if that involves a hard inquiry, which Citi most probably did. Then there's the added debt, which increases your credit utilization and decreases your score. YES, your scores will go back up once your new card's balance goes down, but it takes time. I've had to wait as long as a few MONTHS before everything got reported and my scores were adjusted. So be patient! My philosophy is to just take it all in stride, knowing that scores fluctuate. I expect them to go up and down, so I'm not shocked or worried when I see it.

which credit card company will trust to give me a credit card while i am in bankruptcy?

Think about it for a moment...  Do you really expect a credit card company to trust you with an account WHILE YOU'RE IN BANKRUPTCY? I wouldn't expect that. (Unless you're talking about secured cards--then, perhaps.) To them, you're in your current situation because you couldn't be trusted with credit, so why would they open an account for you?
