Great Beginner Card

Have had this card for a few years now. Oddly enough, was not a student when approved for this card. It is my oldest card and have never got a CL increase past the $500 it was originally approved for back in the spring of 2015. Since it carries no annual fee, I will continue to keep it open. It has a had a 0 balance since the spring but I do plan on using it for a small purchase soon to keep activity showing.

The only thing that can be worked on is the customer service that Capital One has when you call to speak to someone.

I originally applied for this card to help my daughter earn some rapid rewards points. I honestly was not expecting to get approved. Approval came back quickly with a $4500 CL. I earned my 40K rapid rewards points about a week after hitting the $1000 spend within 90 days.  My daughter earned her referral points about a week after I got my approval.

Will continue to keep this card in my arsenal.

I got this card back in May of 2015. I had mid 500 scores across all three credit bureaus. I tried to upgrade it last year after my credit union awarded me a card with them with an amazing CL. Capital One said no. I held on to it because it is my second oldest card on file. Fast forward to now, tried again to upgrade it to the regular Quicksilver card and was told again I was not eligible. I’ve never been late on payments, always pay more than the minimum and they still won’t upgrade. So after my credit union awarded me another card with an amazing CL, I’m transferring the balance over to the new card and will be closing this one out. Capital One wasn’t even willing to work with me after being told of my plans. So, even though it’s my second oldest card, I’ll take the hit on my credit score which as of now are in the 690’s range on 2 and low 700’s on one and just keep my two credit union cards which have almost 30k more CL combined than my Quicksilver One.
