I have been in credit card debt for awhile and the interest was killing me. Everything was maxed out. My credit scores were all in the low 600's. I did not have any late payments or collections on my credit, but what was bad was the maxed out cards. I had about $18,000 total in credit card debt with interest rates around 24% to 27%. I have been in my house 4 years and bought it for $162,000. My neighborhood values have increased a lot and I put about 25k into the house (hence the credit card debt). I began my application with them on March 1st, closed March 31st. My house was appraised for $225,000, which is consistent with my neighborhood recent sales. I was able to pay off all of my credit card debt and got a nice chunk of cash to help as a fallback savings.

My old interest rate was 4.125%. My new one is 4.990%. Yes, an increase but I had to do something and it isn't so bad. It beats what I was paying in interest on my debt.

I did have to pay a $500 fee to get the loan moving which was NOT easy to do. So, that could be a negative. The appraisal was $400 or $500, I cannot remember. It was rolled into the loan.

It was somewhat frustrating getting them the docs they needed. You submit what they ask for and then they ask for it 2 or 3 times again after you already sent it! They also asked for a form that did not exist. Once we got past all of that though, things went smoothly and honestly I cannot complain.

They do keep in contact with you all they way through, which was helpful. They are quick to respond to your questions. Make sure you log in A LOT to see what is next on your to-do list. You will not always get an email notification about new items. So, log in frequently. I was logging in several times a day.

We closed at my home. No out of pocket expenses other than the $500. All my debt is gone. My mortgage payment went up about $200 a month, but it is less the $700 a month I was paying to other debt.

It is a HUGE relief. There was no other way out! I highly recommend them.

Citi® Double Cash Card

I applied and was instantly denied. I have a mortgage, a car lease, and 3 credit cards, 2 other lines of credit. Never even 1 late payment. Scores are 699, 698, 712.
Called recon line and the guy told me that my experian report showed I had NO ACCOUNTS. No credit history, no mortgage... nothing. I pulled my experian report and that's not true. Everything is on my report!! Experian and all other bureaus accurately reflect my credit lines and accounts. When I told him this, he basically rudely just said he couldn't help me and actually hung up on me.
I've been getting endless spam from them in the mail, too, which requires soft pulls.
I was surprised at what a jerk he was. I was totally polite nor was I aggressive towards him, yet he treated me as if I were lying.

When I asked them if there was a mistake, he insisted there wasn't. Obviously he was wrong. I was thinking about going up to one of their banks but was turned off by the way this was handled. So today I applied for a Discover IT card and was instantly approved for $4500 CL.

And here is an update. I pulled my Experian again, and double checked Equifax and Trans union. None of my reports show that they pulled my credit. I got a denial letter today from citibank saying I had no record of credit. Obviously someone made a mistake but they insist no mistake was made.
Anyways, I'm glad no hard pull occurred but I think I'm going to apply to Discover instead. Citibank has not impressed me at all.

Somebody put a mortage in ny name? I need your help

Jun 22, 2016

I had this happen to me. It was a mistake by the credit bureaus. Someone with a similar name and SSN somehow got mixed up with me. It took me years to correct this. They kept opening accounts, it would default, and then go on my reports. I had to dispute every one of them.

If you see the mortgage company listed on your report, contact them first and ask what is up. Make sure there isn't an ongoing issue with someone using your identity, or a mix up.

Then, go to the credit bureau website and register. Then file a formal dispute.

I disputed something on my credit report that i want put back on…is that possible….

I would atleast check with the credit bureau. If it was a legit mistake on your part, I would bet that they can put it back. I have never had this exact scenario happen so I cannot say for sure, but it is worth a try.

How do I add a credit card to my credit history?

Jun 21, 2016

If you have a credit card that is active, but not on your credit report, I would contact the credit card and ask them which bureau they report to and how often. In my experience, most credit card companies report to all 3 bureaus. If the credit card company says it has been reporting to a certain bureau, but you do not see it reflected, you would then have to contact the bureau which is a more complicated process. I would contact your credit card company first.
