I applied for the Capital One Platinum almost a year ago and was approved with a $300 limit. At the time my scores were TU 502, EQ 530, EX 680. I called customer service after the 4th statement with a question/concern and was upgraded to the Quicksilver and my limit was increased to $400. After the 6th statement my limit automatically was increased to $750, I wasn’t impressed as I was using the card a lot and making multiple monthly payments totaling $400-$700 sometimes leaving a balance of $30-$60 at the time each month closed.

So I just received my 11th statement, my balance was $0 and to my surprise my limit was increased to $3,250. My scores have increased greatly in 11 months, TU 762, EQ 741, EX 763.

The few times I’ve needed to call customer service they’ve always been able to resolve any issues I might have had fairly quick, the times I’ve been double charged I get notified and quickly get my account credited, I find the Android app extremely easy to use, make payments, view monthly statements… The high interest rate doesn’t bother me as I pay my balance off before the period ends but I plan on calling in 2-3 months and ask if it can be lowered.

I’m extremely grateful Capital One gave me chance after I destroyed my credit when I was young and dumb. Hope this review is helpful to many and good luck!

Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express

Don’t apply based on your CK odds!!!
Helpful to 62 out of 64 people

If you're considering applying for this card based on your approval odds from CK don't! AMEX checks your FICO score and doesn't pull from Transunion or Equifax, so to say the creditkarma approval odds are inaccurate is an understatement. I suggest checking your Experian score and most important, check if you have pre approved offers from AMEX before applying.

My review/experience so far..
When I applied for the Blue Cash Everyday my FICO score was somewhere around 740s-750s. I was approved and decided to apply for the Everyday Card at the same time, I was approved as well and they only counted as one inquiry so that's great! I received my cards roughly a week later via FEDEX overnight, included was my Experian score and report.

A few things I like/dislike so far..

I like AMEX gives high starting limits and a 3X CLI after 60 days of opening the account. I like they give its members access to their FICO 8 score. The rewards aren’t rotating categories but the cash dollars updates at the end of each statement and you can only redeem in increments of $25. I let it build up anyway so that doesn’t bother me.

So far I’ve only had 1 merchant that did not accept AMEX and being a large purchase it was disappointing, I ended up paying with a MC instead. Customer service seems to be outsourced, some agents have a strong accent and can be hard to understand at times but they're very friendly, courteous and try hard to make it right and fix whatever issue you might have. It takes about 2 months to start reporting on creditkarma, then reports 1 month late but eventually reports on time. Creditkarma is great for what it is, a free service. I don’t rely on it 100% and have a premium subscription with a reputable company that gives all 3 bureau score/report that updates in real time and so much more.

Hello Jasmine, Capital One usually gives CLI once every 6 months. ONLY if you're account is up to date, no previous late payments and paying more than the minimum due. After my 6th statement I went from $300-750 at my 12 statement from $750-$3250 and upgraded to a non secured rewards card. This was a while back, today my scores are in the 800s and I have some of the best cards AMEX, Chase, Cap One offers with a total of about 60K CL. Patience while playing the credit game, you will get there eventually. Good luck!

The APR on this card is no secret as this is a card for limited credit, that being said, the APR is dependent on your credit profile. Now, if you don't carry a monthly balance, the APR should not matter.

Hello, Kile. I'm going to share a short story (or personal experience) with you. Cap One started me with a Platinum $300 CL, my scores were in the 530s at the time. I used it ALOT, made several monthly payments totalling $500-$700 leaving a balance of about $50 at the time of the monthly bill closing. After my 6th statement I got an auto CLI and my limit was raised to $750 and I was upgraded to the Quicksilver. I thought just like you, I was extremely ****ed! But my scores were going up, and I know building credit takes time, years. At my 11th statement for my surprise, I got another CLI and my total limit was $3250, several months later I was upgraded again to the World Elite and my limit was raised to 10K and today my scores are in the 800s. I dont use much my Quicksilver anymore because I have several AMEX cards with 20K and 30K. My advice to you is patience! Don't close this account as it will not help your credit one bit as you will lose 1 account obviously but more importantly it will bring down significantly your total credit lengh and probably raise your utilization rate as well, this card has no anual fee so it won't hurt just putting it away. You can also ask Cap One for an upgrade and/or a lower APR. I hope this is of some help to you and if you have any questions ask away.

If you have an anual fee, you don't have the Quicksilver. Maybe the Quicksilver One.

Slane1973, you do know there are other important factors right? It's not just about your scores. Payment history and several others.
