I was unaware that they could close your account simply because of unrelated inquiries.  I lost 4 cards in 2008, and all had 0 balances.  Of course, they did not communicate with me about the closings.  I was forced to find out the hard way.....  attempting to use them....  very embarassing.  When I called each bank, I was given the same answer....  "We have no information to provide"....your account is closed.

Credit Card Approval Insights

I have found that if you call the creditor (Bank, or other financial institution) on the phone prior to applying, the majority of them can give you some insight as to their base qualifications.  Provide them with your financial information, credit scores, and your credit history.  Some of the information they are capable of providing, in most cases, may help you decide whether or not to even apply to begin with.  I am just like you, as I HATE hard inquiries on my history, especially if you are declilned.  Good luck to you.

I have also found out,  that "none" of the financial institutions will provide you their credit scoring model used.  I don't see what the big secret is all about......

Well done. I am considering the Amex Everyday Card as well. I have been a gold card member for many long years, and I have to say that Amex has never treated me wrong!

How to dispute an error on your credit report

May 28, 2015

Thank you for your input.  I am not sure about "restarting the clock" simply by contacting them.  However, I found out the hard way that a "collector" can come in at the tail end of an account in collections, buy out the account (for pennies on the dollar), and start the clock all over again. This occurred many years ago (and I hope legislation has passed defeating this).  Has anyone heard of this issue before?  It became a very "heated" subject with the collector and I, and eventually, I never heard from them again, and the collection disappeared from my credit report.  It was medical of course..........

Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card

It is amazing how they reject some people with a good score, but then approve with a poor/fair score. I received one with a 4K credit line and a score of 624.
