In a Nutshell

The Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card offers a variety of perks: shopping rewards, annual birthday presents, no annual fees and free shipping on qualified orders. But unless you frequently shop at Victoria’s Secret, a different rewards credit card (with a lower purchase APR) might be a better fit.

We think it's important for you to understand how we make money. It's pretty simple, actually. The offers for financial products you see on our platform come from companies who pay us. The money we make helps us give you access to free credit scores and reports and helps us create our other great tools and educational materials.

Compensation may factor into how and where products appear on our platform (and in what order). But since we generally make money when you find an offer you like and get, we try to show you offers we think are a good match for you. That's why we provide features like your Approval Odds and savings estimates.

Of course, the offers on our platform don't represent all financial products out there, but our goal is to show you as many great options as we can.

If you’re an avid Victoria’s Secret shopper, you’ll probably enjoy the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card tiered rewards system.

How does the tiered rewards system work?

  • All cardholders earn one point for every $1 spent at victoriassecret.com and all Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores in the U.S.
  • Cardholders in the first two tiers — Angel Card and Angel VIP — earn a $10 Angel Reward certificate for every 250 points earned
  • Cardholders in the highest rewards tier — Angel Forever — earn a $15 Angel Reward certificate for every 250 points earned

All cardholders begin at the Angel Card level, but once you earn 500 points in a rolling 12-month period, you’ll be automatically upgraded to Angel VIP. Once you earn 1,000 points in a rolling 12-month period with the Angel VIP card, you’re automatically upgraded to Angel Forever credit card.

If you like to shop at Victoria’s Secret and regularly spend more than $250 per year, the Angel Card could be a good way to get rewarded for shopping. But if that doesn’t sound beneficial to you, you might be better off with a regular cash back rewards credit card instead.

The rundown: Everything we like about Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card

If you’re not careful, store credit cards can hit you with high interest, fees and penalty charges. But if you’re a frequent Victoria’s Secret shopper and are dedicated to paying your balance on time and in full each month, then the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card might be a great card to have. Here’s what we like about it.

Generous shopping rewards

You’ll earn one point for every $1 spent at U.S. Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores, and victoriassecret.com. For every 250 points you earn, you’ll receive a $10 or $15 Angel Reward certificate (depending on your tier status) that can be used toward a future purchase.

There’s no limit to how many certificates you can earn, but your Angel Rewards expire 90 days from when they’re issued. And any points you earn expire 12 months from the day you earn them.

No annual fee

There’s no need to worry about paying an annual fee with the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card, which makes this card a great low-maintenance option for responsible spenders.

Fun cardholder perks that add up

One of the most popular perks is the annual birthday certificate, but that’s only the beginning. Cardholders can also be eligible for up to three triple-points days per program year, which are determined by tier status.

  • Angel Card allows one triple-points day
  • Angel VIP allows two triple-points days
  • Angel Forever allows three triple-points days per year

Just keep in mind that in order to earn triple points, you’ll need to call 1-844-392-6435 within 90 days of your purchase to select a purchase as your triple-points day and have the points applied to your rewards account. Bonus points will be applied to your rewards account within three to six weeks after selecting your triple-points day.

Also, regardless of status, you’ll earn triple points for all bra purchases. Plus you’ll get free shipping on eligible online orders that include a bra purchase. Simply use your Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card to pay and enter offer code JUST4ANGELS at checkout.

Heads up: What you should consider before applying for the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card

The Victoria’s Secret Angel Card is designed for frequent Victoria’s Secret and PINK shoppers, so it may not be a good fit for everyone. Here’s what you might want to be aware of before applying.

The card can only be used at Victoria’s Secret brand stores

The Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card is a closed-loop card, which means it can only be used at a specific store or group of stores. In other words, you can only use your Victoria’s Secret Angel card at U.S. Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores, victoriassecret.com or in-store at Bath and Body Works. (Although you won’t earn any reward points from Bath and Body Works purchases.)

If you don’t regularly shop at Victoria’s Secret brand stores, you might not get a lot of use out of this credit card.

FAST FACTS

How to make a payment on your Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card

With options to make payments online, by phone or in-store, the Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card offers a variety of ways to pay your bill.

  • Online: To make payments online, you’ll first need to access your Victoria’s Secret credit card account through Comenity Bank’s Victoria’s Secret portal. You’ll need a username and password to log in.
  • By phone: For a $9 fee, you’ll be able to call 1-800-695-9478 and pay your bill by phone. After dialing the number, remain on the line and you’ll be transferred to a representative.
  • In store: If you prefer to make a payment in person, you can visit a store and make a payment with the help of a store associate.

High penalty fees and interest rates can get expensive

The variable purchase APR of 26.49% for the Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card is high. If you tend to carry a balance, those interest charges can quickly add up. There are also penalty fees that can detract from rewards you might earn by using the card — up to $37 for late payments and $25 for returned payments.

Do the math: How to get the most out of the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card

Because you’ll earn three points for every $1 spent, purchases from triple-points days are the quickest way to earn rewards and advance your tier. You can choose your triple-points day by calling 1-844-392-6435 within 90 days of your purchase.

All cardholders begin with the Angel Card, which comes with one triple-points day per year. But once you earn 500 points within a rolling 12-month period, you’ll be upgraded to the Angel VIP, which gets you two triple-points days per year.

If you earn 1,000 points within a rolling 12-month period, you’ll be upgraded to the highest tier — Forever Angel. The Angel Forever card comes with upgraded perks that include three triple-points days per year and one $15 Angel Rewards certificate for every 250 points earned.

But again, if you don’t regularly shop at Victoria’s Secret (or can’t see yourself earning 1,000 points in a rolling 12-month period), you might be better off with a cash back card or store credit card that is more versatile.

Nordstrom Retail Card

If you want a more versatile store credit card, then the Nordstrom Retail Card (a closed-loop card), Nordstrom Visa Platinum® or Nordstrom Visa Signature® might be for you. When you apply, you’ll be considered for both cards and eligibility will ultimately depend on creditworthiness. Customers who make frequent purchases at Nordstrom will also be considered for the Nordstrom Visa Signature® card.

You’ll earn two points for every $1 spent in store and online at Nordstrom stores (Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook and TrunkClub), which can be redeemed for Nordstrom Notes. Plus if you qualify for the Nordstrom Visa Platinum® or Nordstrom Visa Signature® cards, you’ll earn one point for every $1 spent everywhere Visa is accepted. And like the Victoria’s Secret Angel Card, there’s no annual fee. The perks are also similar to the Victoria’s Secret card, but the main difference is that Nordstrom stores offer a larger range of products and clothing. So if you’re looking for all-in-one shopping, the Nordstrom Retail Card, Nordstrom Visa Platinum® or Nordstrom Visa Signature® might be a better for you.

So it doesn’t matter if you’re using your card at a clothing store, or at a grocery store, gas station or restaurant — you’ll be earning cash rewards on all eligible purchases. Like the Victoria’s Secret card, there’s no annual fee, but the Citi® Double Cash Card offers up a variable purchase APR of 15.74% - 25.74%.

Bottom line: Is the Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card right for you?

The Victoria’s Secret Angel credit card could be a great choice if you’re a loyal Victoria’s Secret shopper who tends to spend more than $250 in-store per year. That’s because you should earn at least $20 of rewards from the annual birthday gift and Angel Rewards certificate.

But if you value flexibility or you’ve got other card-benefit priorities, then you might be better off with a more versatile store credit card or a general cash back credit card.
