I sent a letter via certified mail/return receipt to NCO Financial stating
"Please be aware that this is not an acknowledgment or acceptance of the debt, as I have not received any verification of the debt. Nor is this a promise to pay and is not a payment agreement unless you provide a response as detailed below."
Then I offered to pay the debt in agreement if they deleted the record. The very same day they received my letter (I sent two letters, one for two different accounts held by them), they updated the date reported on my credit report for both records with that date. Are they allowed to do this since I stated in the letter that I was only willing to pay for deletion, even though I was not acknowledging the debt since they have not verified it yet.

Updating the date is different than re-aging the account. It should still come off your report at the original time it is suppose to. Obviously if they did re-age it then they have broken some laws but I doubt they have done so.

Also, they cannot delete it from your credit. By paying them, you confirmed that you do own the debt, regardless of the wording in your original letter. They are obligated to keep it on your report.

That is completely not true. They are obligated to report the debt correctly. There is no law that states they have to actually report.
