I haven't made any credit inquiries in months. Credit Karma reports that I have an average of 13 each month. Where do these come from and how can I stop them?

Whoa - you need to go to www.annualcreditreport.com right now and look at your report. This is potentially a case of identity theft. If you have a lot of inquiries you don't recognize, call the credit bureaus immediately and put freezes on all of your reports.

The line graph of inquiries can be easily misunderstood. It is a history of how many inquiries are on your credit report. For example, if you have 3 inquiries in January and 4 in February, it means that one was made in January. Note that hard inquiries can stay on your credit reports for up to two years. theo
