Well, I'm almost 28, and I had, at my peak, $7200 in credit debt and $21000 in student loans.  I've been working to pay them off.   Your best bet is to listen to gary: Pinch your pennies.  Live well below your means and start putting every available cent you can towards that debt.  It's hard at first, but not only will it help you in the long run financially and credit score-wise to be out of that debt, but you'll learn some valuable lessons on living below your means and saving... which means you'll be well ahead of the curve for most people your age, and you'll be able to retire/buy a house/etc on good terms.   The fact that you are only 20 and understand the importance of knocking out your debt and stuff shows that you are head and shoulders among most people your age who can't handle the newfound freedom of adulthood.   Lock the cards in a lockbox, pay em off.  Then, get used to paying them off every month and you can use them for small things to keep that history going!
