I signed up for CK, and have been monitoring my credit score and it went down. I recently signed up for a Credit Card and was accepted. Would that hurt me? I was advised to do that to increase my score. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Checking your own report does not effect your score. It's more than likely the inquiry is showing on your report and not the new card as of yet. Wait til next month and see if there's any difference...

It could hurt you temporarily but longer term is for the better.

Obtaining a new line of credit will drop most people's score at least a little at the beginning. However, after 12 months of established positive payment history, you should no longer be taking a hit (unless it significantly lowered your average age of credit). In many/most cases, your score will likely be higher after a year, with all other things being the same. Utilizing this site does not impact your score, nor is reported on your credit reports as hard inquiries.
