How many points should it raise?

Yes,I would also take it a step further & if I do not see a positive impact on my credit report after 30-45 days, I would write each of the credit bureaus and then call or write the creditor or bank in which I have the credit card with to ask them to report it to the bureaus as paid off, for a positive rating.

Most financial institutions report to the credit bureaus on a 30 day cycle. That means it should take anywhere from 1-30 days before your actions will be reflected in your credit scores. If you don't see it in 30 days, you should review your credit reports AnnualCreditReport.com for accuracy.
