I started a short sale process with my lender prior to a foreclosure and successfully found a buyer. I had to stop making payments to get the bank to work with me. The bank reported the last four months the loan was in my name as late 120+ days which is keeping me from getting a new mortage. My credit score is over 700.

You said you stopped making payments to force the bank to accept your short sale. You were late on your payments. So the bank is correct to put that on your credit report.
