I'm getting calls from a creditor from so long ago the Statute of Limitations has expired. (8 yrs. 5 mos., and I'm in a 6 yr. state). I hung up on the first call so as not to say anything stupid. What, if anything, can I safely say if called back?

Tell them EXACTLY that.... "The Statute of Limitations have expired for this account and if you contact me again regarding this account I'm going to file charges against you. I don't owe you anything". Then simply hang up the phone... Too bad there aren't many house phones around where you can slam it in their ears.

Also tell them if they should try and take you to court you will be using that as your defense. It does work because I did it. I also wrote a letter and told them if it wasn't taken off my credit report asap, I would file a lawsuit against them and sue them. Mine was off within two days and my score jumped over 20 points
