I thought after 7 years credit debt came off the reports. I also show all credt debt closed. I am now having lawyers calling me and telling me if not paid in full they are going to start charges against me. I also notice that there is a lein on my property? Can they freeze my bank accounts also? I live in Texas.

Your questions will need more information and more people to answer them. Go to creditboards.com and sign up for free but be more specific. Put your state which you did and then tell people information like when your last payment was on each card that you stopped paying on. If you have attorneys calling stating they will press charges and by charges they mean criminal charges you are either dealing with a junk debt buyer on a very old debt and they are using illegal threats which JDBs like to do or this is a more recent debt and the attorneys determined you committed fraud. IT also sounds like you were sued and they got a default judgement or served you at an old location for an old debt and you were not aware. Like I said this one belongs on the other forum. good luck.

Criminal actions can only be pursued if there is reasonable evidence that you defrauded the creditor.

Additionally, there is a statue of limitations that a creditor may be able to perform certain actions, such as attaching wages, in order to obtain payment. Beyond that period of time, creditors may still try to get payment, but their options are limited (e.g. cannot pursue judgment, etc). I am not aware of the statute of limitations extending more than 7 years, and for this, it is often less.

A lein (or court judgment), however, is permanent until it is either paid or resolved through bankruptcy.

In any case, from how you describe it, these creditors are using illegal tactics, and you should file with your state's attorney general's office. But, you also want to take good notes, etc, and put together as much evidence as you can to use against them.
