a collection account was satisfied last month. the original company sold the account to a collection agency. Should I contact them at the original company and have them post the debt satisfied? will that change my score?

contacting the original creditor for an account that has gone to collections does nothing.. they have already sold your debt, and written you off so as far as te original creditor is concerned you're dead and buried. as for contacting the collection agent and asking them to update your file after you have already paid them, its like Charlie Sheen once said," I've already got your money.." so, they really have no incentive to helkp you any further.. as for the credit bureaus, the account is in collections, and paid or not, it's a negative. the damage has already been done... if it were me, I would just leave it alone..

You can contact the CA (collection agency) and ask for a removal. I did this with one & they removed it 2 years early! My FICO's jumped by about 25 to 30 points across the board.
