I was slow to pay these bills because of being out of work due to the accident. I did eventually pay them in full, but thet did go into collections and are still on my report. Can I get them off and do they affect my score?

You can always negotiate a "pay for delete", but this is often for pending bills that have not been payed off. Otherwise, they will be on your record for 7 years
