If going new auto I would suggest a credit union. Call a few credit unions and they can tell you what APR for the 680+ score. Do not let them pull your score and the same with the dealer. The key is shopping for a car and telling your score only and do not let them pull it. At the end when you have negotiated etc. and sure on which car, then pull the score. Now is the time to maybe deal a little more.

Sorry as far as the window I'm not sure but if you follow the above you will be OK. These sales people like to pull credit and so be tough.

Thank you nandog, I do appreciate your advice. I am even thinking on buying a car true a site like a truecar, so I can avoid all the hassle. And you are right, the sales people like to pull credit too much, but I was thinking to apply for the loads in advance and go to the dealership with a pre-approved loan. Last time they wanted to sell me a 10.2% loan for 12.2%, Basically, an institution had to check my job references so they called me and they told me the apr, while the dealership called me to tell me about the "great" 2% higher offer. Imagine that!

According to your description, you and I are in nearly identical financial circumstances, in terms of income, and credit score. I recently applied with several online lenders, and the manufacuter's internal financing company, and was approved by everyone I applied with, albeit at differing interest rates. With an $80k income, and FICO scores ranging from 680 to 716, I was given the following options to finance a used car: (all 60 month terms) Capital One offered me up to $30k at 6.4% for 2009 and newer vehicles, and up to 8.24% for models manfactured in 2007 or prior. Bank of America offered me $28k at 4.24% Wells Fargo offered $15k at 7.8% Eventually, I ended up purchasing a 2007 3-Series through BMW Financial Services. With no prior auto loan history (I bought my last car 9 years ago, in cash) they were able to get me approved for a $27k loan at 2.9% for 60 months. I was unbelievably happy with the outcome, and I truly believe that knowing I had been pre-approved online helped me immensely in securing the deal I was offered. I was going to be purchasing a car for certain, so it was just a matter of who would be collecting the interest on my loan. It gave me a lot of confidence as a buyer, knowing I could simply walk away and visit a competing dealership. Lastly -- I believe that as long as all of the inquiries related to your loan fall within 14 days of eachother, they will only count as one inquiry. Best of luck! Hope it works out for you!
