It depends on your bills. Try setting a budget and pay yourself, save a certain amount weekly and see how it goes. Try to stick with the budget. Good luck.

http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/2011/05/22/reader-story-how-i-built-my-house-without-a-mortgage/ Some of the advice in the above Get Rich Slowly writeup and video won't apply to you. This young man, probably about your age, wanted to live debt-free and off-grid. However, just from his job as a bartender, he was able to pay off a phenomenal amount of debt in a year and save much of the money for his dream in another year. So the methods he used for saving up the money might be useful to you, since he also got all his income from "tips and lame paychecks." Best of luck! BTW, even if his methods are too extreme for you, having a cash income from tips is perfect for starting a "pay yourself first" savings plan. That is, you put aside 5 or 10 or 20% from your income and keep it for your own long-term goals before you budget for bill paying or buying stuff.
